Come see a tiny monkey named Oliver, get a photo of your pet in space, and hear about the importance of animals to the birth of the Space Age. Join in the fun at this family-friendly event! A tiny monkey named Oliver will be brought to the museum by exotic wildlife rescue expert, Daniel Green. Oliver is the size of the first rhesus and squirrel monkeys flown to space in the early 1960’s and will be with us from noon until 2 pm. Chimpanzees, dogs, a cat and more have been a part of humanity’s journeys to space - stop by to learn more about this history! We will also be showing the video, “Animal Astronaut Heroes” and some of their production team will be present. There will be STEM/STEAM activities for kids and a talk by Solar System Ambassador Tyler Hines. The Brevard Humane Society will have its adoption van in front of the museum all day for those wanting to checkout a new family member. A professional photographer will be present to take (and print) pictures of your household pet in space for a nominal fee. The event will conclude with a bonus “Urban Stargazing” in our parking lot from 6-8pm. The American Space Museum is a proud, Brevard county 501(c)(3) non profit organization and is located at 308 Pine Street in downtown Titusville.
