Friday and Saturday, June 2nd and 3rd, Cocoa Village will host fifty Pro teams for the Seventh Annual, FBA Sanctioned, Historic Cocoa Village BBQ & Blues! This event is a World Food Championship BBQ Qualifier as well as an American Royal Invitational, Sonny's Smokin' Showdown Invitational and Jack Daniel's World Championship qualifier. Admission to this event is free to the public and partial proceeds go toward supporting the great community services provided by Aging Matters of Brevard.
Craig Technologies moves up to Presenting Sponsor. Emma Kirkpatrick, BBQ & Blues Event Organizer, was ecstatic. "We are thrilled to have Craig Technologies back with us this year, especially in a presenting role as our Black Angus sponsor". Craig Technologies supports projects from conceptual to real-world applications with end-users in mind. They engineer, design, prototype, manufacture and test a wide variety of mission-critical systems for a diverse range of customers. This extraordinary company is a proud supporter of its community in a variety of ways.
Another major source of support this year is a $5,000 grant from Smokin' with Smithfield, which enables us to up our prize money awards from $10,000 to $15,000 for the Professional BBQ competition.
Other returning key sponsors for 2017 include Econolodge Port Canaveral Area, Excell Coatings, The Orndorf Wealth Management Group, Space Shirts, Indian River Art, and, of course, the City of Cocoa.
BBQ & Blues kicks off the weekend's entertainment Friday night with Big Blues Machine followed by our Friday night headliner, the Joey Gilmore Band.
On Saturday, Riverfront Park will be smokin' with hot BBQ in the park & cool blues on stage! Our line-up for Saturday features Matt Rossman, Bird Dog Bobby, The Daniel Heitz Band, Josh Miller's Blues Revue, and rounding out the weekend, The Tommy Z Band! Also not to be missed are the People's Choice judging at 11am Saturday, various street entertainers, a vendor village showcasing the work of talented local artists and crafters, and especially the 5:00PM awards ceremony to honor the very tastiest in Florida BBQ! Did we mention the food? A dozen BBQ vendors will be on hand to delight you with their culinary wares!
The Historic Cocoa Village Association represents the majority of the merchants in Cocoa Village. The HCVA's mandate is to help promote and encourage growth of the Historic Cocoa Village community and the City of Cocoa in general by organizing and hosting community events and activities in the Village. Funds raised support various promotions, general advertising and tourism development. The HCVA's most prominent events include four annual Art and Craft shows, the Spring and Fall Central Florida Car Shows, four annual Sip & Strolls and now coming up, BBQ & Blues. The HCVA also partners with the City of Cocoa and Cocoa Main Street in the presentation of various other community supportive events and activities throughout the year.
