Come delve into the versatility of painting with hot pigmented beeswax.. This ancient technique has become increasingly popular with modern artists. It’s a process that invites experimentation and you’ll be be inspired to do more!
Participants will learn about the history of encaustic, safety, surfaces, and fusing. We will explore a variety of techniques including incising, image transfers, pigment sticks, mark-making, collage, mono-printing, and incorporating photos. All supplies are included but students are welcome to bring their own papers, photos, and mixed media ephemera. Students will leave with multiple pieces of art.
Shelley Jean is an artist/educator who studied at the Florida School of the Arts and has a B.S. in Art Education from the University of South Florida . She has taught in the public and private sector for over 28 years. She is a member of the Florida Artists Registry, CIVA and Florida Chapter President of the International Encaustic Artists. Shelley currently teaches at the Maitland Art Museum, Mt. Dora Center for the Arts, and at her home studio, Secret Place Studio in Orlando

The class meets at the Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minuteman Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach. There will be a lunch break and you can bring your lunch (fridge and microwave available) or visit nearby restaurants.
