Still waiting to get your COVID-19 vaccine? Well, here’s your chance. Health First is offering free Pfizer vaccines from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, at its COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic, 611 E. Sheridan Road, Melbourne. Unlike before, there is no pre-registration or sign-up process. If you’re 16 or older, just simply show up at the site during the specified times on one of these two dates, and we’ll get you taken care of. If scheduling a time-specific appointment is more your style, that’s fine, too – simply visit hf.org/staywell, register and pick the date and time that works best for you. “We’re pleased to be able to do our part to protect Brevard during this public health crisis,” said Jessica Maynor, Health First Director of Vaccinations. “Getting as many people vaccinated as we can is an important step in keeping ourselves, our loved ones and our friends safe. The sooner more of us are protected, the sooner we can return to a sense of safety ¬– and normalcy.” Adults will need to bring their driver’s license as proof of identity. Those ages 16 and 17 looking to be vaccinated must bring a parent or legal guardian in order to be immunized, who are required to remain at the side of the minor throughout the registration and vaccination process. The parent or legal guardian must also sign any and all consent forms for the vaccination, as well as provide documentation proving they are the parent or legal guardian. (Details on acceptable documents can be found at hf.org/staywell, so make sure to review what’s needed before coming in, or the vaccination won’t be administered.) With all of the social distancing, masking, hand hygiene and other measures we’ve taken to avoid getting or spreading COVID-19, getting vaccinated is one more critical step – and people shouldn’t be fearful. “Out of the 36,000 COVID-19 vaccinations we’ve administered so far, we have had no reports of any serious adverse reactions,” Maynor said.
